Temptation is major issue when it comes to achieving goals for our life. We set goals for our future and the devil sends in these evil signals to distract you because he loves to see us fail. When we are tempted, we are offered with ideas that are natural and common for the world. These signals or ideas are what the world wants us to be remembered for or wants us to portray. The world is in a place of rebellion. Mankind is given this idea of what life should like but it is not what God intended to be when he first created it. Worldly pleasures give us this sense of excitement and happiness but it is limited excitement and happiness. We can have all the fun we want to have but at some point in time, it is going to end. Trusting God and trusting his path for us is eternal excitement and happiness (1 John 2:17).
One thing I have learned in life is that God puts people in our life to help us stay away from temptations. I call them accountability partners. Accountability partners are people we are extremely close to you and keeps you accountable with the things going on in your life. We have to be accountable for each other and fight together against evil. We have to be careful with what we wear, what we say, what we do, where we go, etc. God speaks to us through these people, providing us with a second chance to get us back on track, focusing on what is more important. And that is building up and strengthening our love for Christ. The bible tells us that we need to not focus on what is down on earth, we need to focus on what is eternal and forever; relationship with God. By trusting God, temptation is just a fly on the wall. Temptation tests our faith in God and when we pass, that relationship we have with Him is secured and locked away forever. Facing temptation at the point is like taking a walk in the park because nothing is that powerful to lead us away from eternity with God. God is eternal happiness. Follow Him.
Father I pray that when tempted by ungodliness, that we take a step back and say, “God I need you.” I know I am tempted every so I pray you give me that courage to stand up to it and destroy it, for you are more powerful than anything. As I go throughout the weak, I pray that you keep me alert for ungodly signs and that you are the true and only happiness I need. In Jesus name. Amen.
You will be tempted this week. I guarantee it. You will be asked to do something or look at something or say something so I challenge you to step away from that temptation and witness what better idea God has for you. How will you respond when God is testing your faith in Him with something that will bring limited happiness?
God Bless You!
